The Day of the Russell Christmas Party

Well, it could have been worse, but then again, it could have been better. The Christmas party was elegant, however, boring in terms of being an actual party. Jenn and came in, talked to a few people, ate, talked to a few more people, and then left. Nothing really extraordinary happened, and there weren’t many surprises. The DJ was somewhat lame, but even still, it’s not about the DJ or the music, its about the company around you. It wasn’t any worse than the music we had at GradBall and that turned out to be a damn good night.

So, we wound up leaving around 10:30, and I drove Jenn back to Hamilton. Didn’t do much on Sunday, just chilled and played pool with Jenn’s friend Ken. he’s actually pretty good, and was beating me in the beginning, but then I was able to find my stroke again and started winning in the end. I all eager play more pool, but probably won’t get the chance until Mohammed’s in town. It’s always good to play against Mohammed….its an easy win and good for the self esteem.

On Sunday, I went to see Memoirs of a Geisha with Jenn and my mom. My mom really enjoyed the movie, and I found it ok, but not great. I tend to give Chinese films more leeway and rarely fault them. In actuality the storyline of this movie was very typical, and weak. There wasn’t that much substance to it, and there were no surprises. However, I still had a good time, and found it enjoyable to watch.

This is the first time I’ve posted something during work, and normally I wouldn’t, but I’m just damn bored right now. Production’s over, so there’s nothing really happening right now. Eyes….so heavy…..

The Day my Supervisor Came Back

As I wrote last time, my supervisor has been on vacation the last two weeks. And what a sweet two weeks it was. I was able to do all my work without feeling the stress of having someone watching over me.

On Friday I went out to Lunch with a bunch of co-workers to Big Daddy's and we (well, mainly they) talked sh*t about everyone in the office. It was actually pretty great. It made me feel more at ease knowing that other people had the same difficulties at work that I was having. It makes me wonder what people say behind my back though. I'm sure that some people talk about me from time to time, and though I couldn't care less, I still wonder if it's good or bad talk.

Anyways, my supervisor came back on Monday, and so far, I haven't heard any complaints about anything I've done. She's shown interest in my deliverables, and has provided me with a lot of responsibility regarding some projects that we're undertaking. If things keep up this way, I may just enjoy working here after all.

Last night I watched Syriana with Val and Aura. I was confused out of my mind during the first hour, but then it all came together in the end, and turned out to be a damn good movie. It makes you a little jaded with respects to the govenrment and the way businesses are run, but I won't go into it too deeply, just in case people haven't watched it yet.

I've been told that people read random blogs, and that I might have some strangers read mine. Apparently, the purpose of some blogs is to provide ramblings and insight for the sake of entertainment and self-promotion. If you've read any of my entries, you'll quickly find that mine is neither of those. It's not that I don't have anything interesting to say or opinions on the world at large, I just save all that for face to face conversations. My blog therefore, really serves as a record of my day to day events so that in he future, I'll be able to look back on it and reminisce. Plus, I don't want a written record of just how cynical, opinionated, and politially incorrect I am. It may come back to haunt me some day.

The Day My Supervisor Went on Vacation

well, the past two weeks have been less stressfull than the weeks prior. Might have something to do with my supervisor going on vacation for two weeks. I've still got plenty of work to do, and I've gotten it all done, but now I don't feel the pressure on me or the eyes watching me, waiting for me to mess up. I've still yet to get any compliments or kudos from my department. I do however get plenty of kind words from the Marketing group, which gives me at least some indication that the work I do is being appreciated.

I've been doing alot of shopping lately. It seems that every store I go to, there's a Family and Friends sale where I can get 30%, sometimes 50%, off everything in the store. With that said, I've bought a blazer, a dress shirt, 3 sweaters, a pair of pants, and a pair of work out gloves in the past 2 weeks. I'm still looking to buy a new tie, and shoes for my company Christmas party next week.

The holidays are coming up, and that means shopping, vacation, gifts, and hanging out with alot of friends. It'll sure be nice to have the time off and just hang out with everyone. Weekends are just not long enough.

Random thought: The other day, I was in the elevator, when this woman was talking to this man about how cold the weather is going and how smoking is more of a bitch now. The man informed the woman that he's quit smoking and has been cigarette free for the past 2 months. The funny thing is, that she constantly congratulated him on quitting and commending him for doing so. I find this odd, cause she seemed to admit that smoking is a filthy habit and that he's much better off w/o it....but she's a smoker!! So, what the hell, if it's that admirable that he's stopped, then why the hell don't you stop? you obviously think that people shouldn't smoke.
