The Day God Told Me I Could Get Away With Murder

So....apparently I CAN get away with murder. Whether John Mark Karr committed the crime or not, one thing's for certain, whoever did kill Jon Benet is still out there.

Now, knowing that a person can get away with murder, the only question is who? ;)

Life's getting busy again. Work is stable at 9-6, but I've started studying again for the CSC. I went to check, and found that my deadline to complete the course is September 30...which is a Saturday, and they don't have exams on saturdays. So, I have to take it on Friday the 29th, whichj gives me just a little over a month to study for it. Now, this could be enough time if I didn't have crazy work to do, if the film fest wasn't in September, and if my birthday and almost everyone else's was in September either. Anyways...it's going to be tough. I've cut down my workouts, and in September I'm going to cut them out almost completely. I've cancelled two Festival shifts already, and instead of the seperate birthday things I did last year, I'm hoping for a consolidated one night thing this year. And even still, I don't know if I have enough time. I mean, it's a fairly simple course, but I'd still like to get the best result I can.

Aside from the film fest, working, working out, and studying, I've also managed to get an interview. I didn't apply to the job, but they called me up, and I went in for it. It's a Fianancial Analyst position at Energy Savings Corp, that's very similar to the job I have now. Growing company, limited resources, and no Structure. Why would I take it then? Cause a) 15 minutes from my parents place b)Full-Time c) pays more...or at least it better, else I'm not taking it. First interview went well enough. I did my thing, and they called me back for a second interview with the Director of Finance there. Now it's just a matter of getting out of work to get to this interview. I have to go to court for my expired sticker next Wednesday, so I figure I can go to it in the morning, then the hearing in the afternoon, then to my film festival shift in the evening. That's going to be a full day! with very minimal studying I think...

The Day God Told Me I Can't Get Away With Murder

So, as you may or may not know, I enjoy watching CSI. The other night, I was watching an episode where a father had accidentally killed his child. Eventually CSI figure it out, and make the proper arrest. Anyways, the following morning, I was brushing my teeth, and I started thinking about the episode. I started thinking how in real life, some people are murdered and completely get away with it. Then I started thinking about Jon Benet Ramsey, and how her family were continuously questioned, but in the end, whoever killed her, got away with it. So, I figure people do get away with murder. Then I get into my car and drive to work, turn on the radio, and what do I hear. Some guy's been caught for the murder of Jon Benet Ramsey! Totally freaked me out. I haven't heard anything about this case in years, and probably haven't thought about it in the same amount of time, then randomly I think about how the guy got away with murder, and minutes later, i find out he's been caught. It's gotta be one of the craziest coincidences that I've ever had in my life. Anyways, I think it's a sign from God saying that I can't get away with murder. There goes my plans for the weekend....

The Day I Caught a Guy in a Pick

I forgot to mention something nasty I saw last Friday while driving to work. While stopped at a light, I checked my rear view mirror and saw a guy in a dress shirt picking his ear with his finger. Nasty right? Then the guy starts picking his nose with the same finger!!! And then, if you can believe, the guy start picking his teeth!!! No word of a lie! The guy, picked his ear, then his nose, and then stuck that finger in nhis mouth. *shudder* Well to do looking chap as well. I laughed all the way to work.

The Day I Worked 70 Hour Weeks, Went to Tobermory, Signed up for The Film Festival, Went to the Annual BBQ, Played Some Golf, Went to Caribanna.......

How much things can change in two months. Looking back at my last post, I mentioned something about a lull? how work, working out, CSC, and CSI were taking up all my time? How I long for those days now. July was hell month for me. 13 hour work days, 70 hour weeks, and no time for the Jenn, the gym, or CSI. The thing that makes me the most upset, is the amount of time that was wasted because of poor documentation, and lack of structure and processes with respects to their budget. Anyways, I won't go into any details, but let's just say, it's a complete mess, and I was the one who had to endure all of it. Finally, I got a good portion of it completed, and my life is back to some normality at the moment, although I do have some work to complete before the long weekend's over.

Although there hasn't been alot going on outside of work, it's been so long since I blogged that I actually have enough material to write about. Here they are in no particular order:

Toberymory Long Weekend
Martin, Mike, Krystian, Val, and me went up to Tobermory for the Canada Day weekend. It was much more packed than it was when I went up there in May, but I guess that's to be expected. On the first day we went hiking in the national park, and went down to the grotto. It was a nice hot day, and all was good until it started to rain. Then we had to hike 20 minutes back to the car and get back to the campsite. Luckily the rain soon stopped and we were able to start a fire and get some food cooking on this little portable bbq Martin bought. The first set up pre-soaked coals lit up pretty well, but we didn't get the hang of lighting up the regular coals that we brought along. Suffice it to say, we had a pretty tough time getting are food cooked, but we managed not to get any food posoining, and that's what matters. We also made due with eating sausages and marshmallows over the campfire which was enough to satisfy us.

On the second day, we went to the pier and just walked around. The group got some fish and chips, and then we went to grab some ice cream from the Sweetshop, which to me, would be a good name for a strip club as well as a candy store. After our ice cream, we went to one of the beaches there and just lied around. The water was FREEZING, so we didn't do any swimming aside from the swimming pool that they had at the campsite. We spent the rest of the day chilling at the campsite, eating, talking, and drinking. Always a good time in my opinion.

The third day we just packed everything up, went to one of the lighthouses in the area and enjoyed the pituresque view of the lake. Spent about 30 minutes there, and then made the drive back to malton.

Oh, one of the most random things happened when we were at the grotto. We were just chilling on some rocks, enjoying the breeze, and watching these scuba divers in the crystal clear water. So, we're just sitting there silently when this guy climbs down with his g/f to walk around the caves, which is all fine and good. nothing weird about that. Then the guy comes behind us, stands there and watches the water as well. Also nothing weird about that. So, it's silent, everyone just watching the water, when all of a sudden someone says "scooooooba diver" like they're 3 years old. I look over at the guys, and of course, everyone's just trying to keep themselves from bursting out laughing. The second the guy leaves, we all start cracking up. It was just the most random thing. Then the guy came back and asked Martin to take a picture of him and his g/f, as if we weren't there during his moment of senility. Anyways, maybe you had to be there to appreciate it.

Toronto International Film Festival
The Film Festival volunteer recruitment sessions started up again, and I went down to Toronto to sign up for my shifts. Unfortunately, since I'm working in Hamilton, I can only watch/work on the weeknights and weekends, so I signed up for 4 airport shifts, and 2 Roy Thompson shifts. I was also made a Captain at the Airport which means I'll get an extra movie ticket, which I'll need since I'm only working 6 shifts. Ah, I can't wait for the film festival. It's one of my favourite times of the year.

Annual BBQ
The Waterloo crew and our respective friends got together in Scarborough for our annual BBQ. It was a great time filled with laughter, food, Sports, and even a shaving cream fight. We played football, soccer, and Soccer Baseball, something that I haven't played since grade school. I did so much running that I strained my hamstrings, and have yet still to recover fully. After all the sports, Jessani busts out the Shaving Cream, and we have an all out shaving cream fight, something that I also haven't done since grade school. It was good times though. Made me feel like a kid again. Afterwards we got changed, went out for dinner, and concluded the night with some poker and Catan at Ben's place.

Golf
I went golfing twice this summer. The first time I went with Umu, John, and Johnny. I had alot of rust on me, and shot a nasty 110. The second time I went with Ben and Umu, and struggled on the front 9, before killing it on the back nine. I finished at 91, which isn't the greatest, but I ended with a par, bogey, and birdie. I'm definitely looking forward to next time, and hoping that my stroke continues to improve.

Civic Long Weekend
I was looking to do something again for the long weekend, like going to Ottawa to visit my sister, but on one seemed interested and Candice was working, so I stayed back and chilled in Mississauga instead.

It was also caribanna weekend, so I went down to Yongue street with English, Daz, Stylez, Hilton, and this guy English works with. They did the usual thing and talked to random girls, and I just hung back and filmed it all. On saturday, we went to the parade, and just enjoyed the sights, sounds and food for most of the day. After the parade was done, we went back home to chill, and then went back downtown to Yongue street much like the night before. It was a little deader this time around, but we somehow stayed until 2:30 in the morning. Suffice to say, I was damn tired when we got back home, and feel asleep almost immediately.

Then today, I met up with Jeff to play some pool, and watch Clerks 2. It was actually pretty damn funny, and surprisingly good. It's not as good as the original of course, but it definitely did it enough justice to be a sequel. I can't wait until it comes out on DVD. i really want to watch the commentary. I guarantee it's going to be hilarious.

Tomorrow, I'm planning on meeting up with Jenn and her family and chilling at the Beach. They're planning on leaving at 9:30 in the morning, so I should probably get my ass to sleep so I can wake up and meet them in Brantford. But I hungry, and I need to eat first. I can do with only 5 hours of sleep. Hell, it'll be like every other Monday.
