The Day The Barber thought I Was Still in Highschool....

I don't know what's going on but for the second day in a row, someone has thought that I was 16 years old! It seems like some wierd joke. I was getting my hair cut, and the barber asks if I went to Ascension. I reply "yea, a while ago". Then she makes this astonished face like "What? no way!". Now, it's one thing to think I'm still in Highschool, but after I say I'm not, Is it really THAT unbelievable?

The Day I got ID'ed at the Movies

Today I went to go see Underworld 2 with English and his brother and the strangest thing happened. While in line at the theatre, I heard this kid saying how he didn't have his ID with him to watch some movie. I had a good laugh to myself, glad that I no longer had restrictions placed upon me when I went to the theatre.

The 3 of us proceed to the ticket taker, and we find out that Enlgish had only taken the ticket receipt from the machine and not the actual ticket. Idiot! So Darren (english's brother) and I decide to just go in and get seats while English looks for his ticket at the machine. The guy there then asks if I have ID on me. ME? I'm freakin 24 years old! Hell, I didn't even get ID'ed when I was 18, and I'm getting ID'ed now? Not only that, but there was a good possibility that I was older then the kid who was IDing me! Anyways, I thought it was pretty ironic that I was thinking earlier about how I don't get ID'ed anymore. It's actually kinda of wierd still being ID'ed at times. When it comes to things like the club, or even the LCBO, I can understand, but at the movies? or even to buy a lottery ticket? What's the harm?

The day it became the year 2006

It's been a long time since I posted something here. almost 2 months or so? Alot has happened in two months as well. Mainly, it's gone from 2005 to 2006. The following is nothing more than a recollection of that period of time, and is not particularly intersting or witty. I commend all those who actually read it all, and will consider you a bit of a stalker for doing so. Anyways, here goes.....

I took almost 2 weeks off from work, and just did as much as I could with as many people as I could. I figure I'll do my recap chronologically so there won't be too much overlap in what I write.

Candice came back for a few days from Ottawa on the 23rd, and I always look forward to when she comes back. On that day, we went to watch Munich in theatres, and then March of the Penguins at home. Both were excellent movies. Those penguins are damn tough!

Christmas Eve I went to Brantford to exchange gifts and have Christmas Dinner with her family. I got car mats, a new belt, leather gloves, the movie "Say Anything", a GC to music world, cash, and alot of food at dinner. All gifts that I love. After opening gifts, I had to leave for midnight mass back in mississauga. Traditionally for the past 7 years or so, English, Dean and I go to midnight mass, and then exchange gifts afterwards. Sadly, this year, it was just English and I (in body, but not in sprit, cause no matter what, Dean's always with us). It was still nice, and English and I shared a few laughs, we both said a prayed for Dean, and know that it'll never be exactly how it was.

On Christmas day, English and I went to go visit Dean to wish him a merry christmas. We reminisced a bit and just reflected on stuff. The usual I guess. Then I came back home, gathered my sister and mom, and set off for my aunt's for Dinner. Jenn met up a bit later and it was another nice family type of evening, again with ALOT of food. This year however, I had to dress up as Santa Claus for the kids, something traditionally done by my uncles, but it seems the torch is passing to us now. It was fun, but who knew that Santa suit was so damn hot!

Boxing Day is always a great day. Candice and I hit up a Best Buy to get a cordless phone for my mom (a gift from Jenn and I). Then we hit up a Mexx, where I bought a few shirts and ties for work. I also bought a shirt from French Connection at square one, before briefly meeting up with Seiji, James, and Mohammed. I say briefly because Candice had to catch the bus back to Ottawwa, and we didn't have much time after all the shopping "we" did. So, I dropped her off at Union station, and said our goodbyes. It sucks that she only comes down for a few days, but it's better than nothing I guess. She's the best sister I could ever ask for.

After dropping her off, I decided to go to Eaton Center just to see if there was anything I liked. The only thing I could find were a sweet pair of Lacoste runners at B2, which I wound up buying on the spot. I then went back to Sauga, and met up with the guys for pool and half price appetizers at east sides. We had a good talk, and ALOT of food. Always an enjoyable combination, and certainly not the last.

The next few days I spent mainly with Val who came back from Columbia for a few days. Two of those days were spent eating at all you can eat places. One was all you can eat hotpot in Scarbourough, and the next day was all you can eat indian food in Malton. We also went to go see Brokeback Mountain and Capote with Mohammed, which I thought was funny. Only because I knew Mohammed would not really like to see Borkeback. However, It was a really good film, and my choice for Best Picture of the year at the Oscars. Capote was also good, but I've never been a fan of biopics, unless I really want to know more about the person, and quite frankly I couldn't care less about Truman Capote.

The night before New Year's Eve, I went out to Republik with Val, Carmen, Farooq, Umu, Kishen, Johnny, John, and Faraz. I guess it was a way of clubbing for New Year's without actually clubbing on New Year's. It was actually alot of fun, and made me look forward to a nice quiet New Year's.

Which leads us into New Year's Eve. Firstly, what would it be without a trio to all you can eat sushi with Jenn and company. Company includes Caitlin, her friend Mike, Jayne, ben, James, Jeff and Hien. We were still trying to organize our New Year's Evening, and for the most part, it seemed that Jenn, Caitlin, Mike and I were going to a Swing Dancing party in Toronto. Yea, it's a bit wierd, but from it would provide the type of evening that I wanted. A nice quiet atmotspere where we could talk, but at the same time have some drinks and have asome fun as well. I guess this though appealed to other people as well, because by the end of it we had convinced Jayne, Ben, James, Ruth, and Ruth's friend to come as well! They say the more the merrier, and I couldn't agree more. It was a great time, and a great way to ring in the New Year.

At about 1:30, we decided to go grab some food to eat, and what better place, then in Chinatown. It took us a while to find a place, as most places were actually closed or closing for the night. Since when did Chinatown ever close their doors at 2 in the morning? Anyways we eventually met up with Val and Carmen, and went to a Pho restaurant near Spadina and Dundas. I barely talked to Val and Carmen, but they told me they had a good time at C-Lounge.

It's officially 2006 now, and with that brings my New Year's Resolution. My New Year's Resolution is: "To be diligent in my studies and my pursuit to further enhance my skills. In particular, I will obtain my CSC before the summer, and begin studying for the CFA soon after". So far I've studied every day for the past 2 weeks, and am on track to write the first exam in mid-end of february. It's not easy work though. Most times, I study until 10 after work, and then make my way home to have a quick bite to eat, and 6 hours of sleep. It's exhausting and stressful, but I truly want to get my CSC soon, so it's the price I have to pay. There's always time to relax in the summer.

Well, I think that's it for now. I really don't think anybody can read this whole post. Hell, I know I couldn't. Most of the times, I'll go to someone's page, look at pictures, and do a search for my name to see if I was mentioned at all. If there are no pictures, and my name is nowhere on the page, I just close the window. What the hell do I care about what people did over the break? Write something more interesting!
