The Day I got a new cell phone

So, all those who have any sort of contact with me, knows that I've been waiting to get a new cell phone. Basically, the display on my old cell phone wasn't working anymore and so it made it hard to know when I had missed calls, had new messages, or needed to access the phonebook. I waited until now to get it, cause I figured, I'd be done my contract with Bell, and I could look for the best deal on plans and cell phones once it was done.

So, I thought about going with my company plan with Rogers, which was $20/mth for unlimited weeknight and evenings, and 250 minutes. The only problem with that plan was that it didn't include caller id or voicemail. Two things I really need.

So, I call Bell up and tell them I'm going to go with Rogers, knowing that they were going to offer me a plan as well. The plan they offered me, was unlimited weeknights starting at 6, unlimted weekends, 100 Ld minutes to Canada, unlimted browsing, voicemail, call waiting, call display, conference calling, and call forwding for $34.50/mth after tax, system access fee, and 911 emergency calling. All in all, it makes it about $3-4 more than if I went with the other plan, so there really wasn't much of a choice.

The only decision now was what phone to get. Bell seems to have a very limited selection of phones. It was more or less down to the Motorola v3c (the new Razr), or the Samsung a920. After spending a couple of days looking at specs and reviews, and asking people about it, it came down to this: The new Razr has all the sex appeal that you would want in your phone, but the Samsung has all the technology and specs that you want in the long run. The deciding factor though is that the Razr is the most sold cell phone in history. Over 4 million were sold in the month of Decemeber alone! and it's not just a stat either. I know tons of people with it, and see it everywhere I go. That just makes it lose that uniquness that comes with having a cool phone. I mean, if everyone drove a BMW z4, then how cool and elite would it be to have it? So, yes, I went with the Samsung cause I figure it's just the better choice in the long run, and it offers everything that I would want in a cell phone. The best feature is that it uses a Transflash Memory Card, and in this day and age, expandable memory in any device is 10 times better then memory that's built in.

I think I made the right choice. I couldn't be happier with my phone. Watching videos on it, playing mp3's, downloading 5x faster than 1x, surfing the internet, and taking pictures, it's just crazy what phones can do nowadays.
